This blog is simply the telling of one helpmeet and mother's quest to fulfill her God-ordained destiny. It is written with the hopes that other young women will embrace their calling to be godly wives and mothers; that they will be encouraged to love their husband and children and will find contentment in being keepers at home.

Blessed Beyond Measure

Today is my thirty-eighth birthday.  We live a very busy life what with my husband being a pastor to a small congregation and home educating our four children.  So today, after being asked numerous times what I wanted to do for my birthday, I decided to clear the schedule -no school, -no errands, -no stress!  I just want to reflect on all my blessing and to enjoy my family.

First, I'm so very thankful that my heavenly Father saw me in His mind and predestinated me to live in this day and age.  I'm thankful that He loves me, despite the many times I've failed Him, that He's still working on me, changing me, molding, and shaping me into His image.

I'm so thankful that He brought my husband and me together.  We just celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary a couple weeks ago.  Joel is truly an amazing man.  I've learned so much from being married to him.  He loves people and is incredibly gifted in discerning their needs.  He's laid back and easy going, has the patience of Job, uncannily remind me of Moses, and lives a life that manifests Christ.

My next blessing is my daughter Anna - who is very much like her Dad.  She's very concerned with making sure her motives and objectives are right, wanting to please God in all she does and says.  She's very detail oriented, takes her time, and does an outstanding job in all the endeavors she undertakes.  She is very gifted musically and has a way of creating an atmosphere that others fall into.  She is my graceful dreamer who loves beauty and peace.  She's also a talented author.

Kara is my "chip off the old block", although she inherited her dad's ability with people.  She is very caring, kind, and considerate.  Children and babies love her! (So do their Mamas.)  She is able to look at a problem, figure out a solution, and implement it before most people realize anything is wrong.  She works at lightning speed and can whip a room together in a matter of minutes. She  prepares  gourmet meals with all the garnishes and delicious flavors with ease, and then snaps amazingly detailed photos of her creations.

One of the blessings I'm so thankful for this year is how God led us to find a solution for Isaac's vision problem.  We didn't know he had a problem, really.  But God used a number of circumstances and people who pointed us to a doctor who diagnosed his problem and after going through therapy, restored his vision to normal.  He is ALL boy (I say we got three for the price of one!), loves sports, nature, and his Dad.  He has been caught numerous times lately with his nose stuck in a book and that makes me very happy.

Miss Rebecca  is fast and looks like her sister Kara.  She has the literary gift of words and acts a lot like her sister Anna - but she is her own little lady.  She loves to clean and organize.

I am so thankful for God's many blessings in my life and pray that I can live a life that brings glory to Him.
